Associate Principal, Arup
Gideon D’Arcangelo leads Arup's digital experience design practice out of New York. He is a leading designer of interactive and immersive storytelling experiences in the built environment. He is skilled in the integration of architecture, technology, software and media – the primary disciplines required to deliver permanently-installed digital/physical experiences. "I like to think that audiovisual technology and content is a new kind of architectural material," says D'Arcangelo. "Essentially, my practice involves experimenting with this new material." He is an accomplished project leader who has overseen many projects for corporate and cultural clients, such as Delta Airlines, Barclays and PNC Bank, from concept through installation and operations. He brings a special focus on data-driven generative content and visualization to his projects. Early in his career, D'Arcangelo was a producer for legendary ethnomusicologist and folklorist Alan Lomax. He is currently on the board of Lomax’s Association for Cultural Equity.
